When my sister passed away in January, it was hard for all of us in my family. She was single. Had no children. Lived on her own. When I pass on, my husband and girls will have everything I own to keep or sell. It wasn't like that with Wendy. We had to go in and clear out her entire apartment, which to have to do the day after someone passes away is taxing emotionally.
While cleaning out her place, I came across her stack of cookbooks in the kitchen. Flipping through the pages of one of the books, I found a gift certificate for Pottery Barn I bought for her way back in 2006!!! Everyone felt I should go ahead and take the gift cert since I was the one who got it for her. I've been holding onto it for months now and finally decided what to do with it.
I went to the Pottery Barn this weekend while I was in town and found this pretty hurricane lamp. I wanted to pick something that Wendy would have loved. Now everytime I look at it, I will think on her. I miss you little sister.

oh, I'm so sorry for your pain. I think the lamp is beautiful, and so is the sentiment behind your purchase.
I couldn't think of a more fitting tribute to your sister. Light comforts us, brings hope and is a symbol of truth. I think Wendy was like that.
Love you...

I am very sorry to hear about your sister. That is very touching. My mom's name is Wendy, so that struck a cord with me. I will keep you close to my thoughts. A beautiful candle and it will always remind you of her.
I thought you posted that she had children but didn't have custody-but here you've written she had no children. What is the story?
